Terms of Use
Fees: Tuition is priced per month for 60-minute lessons and is made through PayPal with a minimum of 4 lessons per month. Current students who entered lessons at previous price-point will remain at the original price agreed upon until termination of lessons. Should they choose to resume lessons at a future date, they will pay the current rate that Music On A Stick: Music Academy requires. Payments are made at the time of booking. Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons and does not cover any teaching materials such as books or instruments.
Minimum of 4 Lessons Per Month: Our calendar is designed to have an even number of 52 lessons per year, no matter which day of the week you choose. Most months you will have 4 lessons paid for at the time of booking and sometimes 5, in which case you will be sent a one-time link by your instructor to book the remaining week at the cost of 1 lesson. All lessons must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
Lesson Time/Day Changes: If you need to change your lessons due to other commitments (going on with sports or other activities/interests) as always, we will try our best to accommodate you and find another time that works.
Summer Lessons: Music On A Stick: Music Academy operates year-round & does not close during the summer. With consideration to extra summer travel plans, between the months of May & August, we may offer 2 make-ups per month compared to our regular 1 make-up per month policy & can be scheduled before or after your scheduled travel time during the same calendar month. Payments are still due at the initial time of booking to reserve your lesson space.
Suspend or Refuse Service: Missing 2 weeks in a row without notice and communication can be subject to removal from the schedule. Furthermore, Music On A Stick: Music Academy reserves the right to withhold services from any current / prospective clients at any time.
Discontinuing Lessons: To discontinue lessons please let your instructor know via phone call or text so that they may plan accordingly. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. The payee of all currently booked lessons will still be financially liable for the remaining lessons previously booked and no refunds will be given. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether they choose to attend lessons or not.
Absences & Make-Up Lessons: Music On A Stick: Music Academy's Make-Up Policy is extremely generous compared to other schools. Most schools only allow ONE make-up lesson per YEAR! With proper notice we allow 1 make-up lesson per month. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule a make-up lesson with the teacher. Make-up lessons must be completed within the calendar month of absence. If make-ups are not completed within the same calendar month, they will be lost, unless deemed an emergency by the instructor. This is at the complete discretion of the instructor and is based on the information that you provide. They will only be granted to current students paying regular tuition, and they cannot be accumulated in exchange for monthly tuition. There are no credits or refunds given for missed lessons. Considerations for illnesses, extenuating circumstances etc. will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Student Absences: Please be respectful and considerate to your teacher when canceling or rescheduling lessons and give at least 24 hours of notice. This will show respect and help retain your current teacher and facilitate them to help others as well! Good habits will give your teacher more time to fit in make up lessons for other students that need make ups, just like you will need makeups as well.
1. Proper Eligible Notice is at least 24 hours. This will qualify for a Make-up lesson. Please limit to 1 make-up lesson per month, to be completed within the calendar month of absence.
2. Make-Up Lessons cannot be canceled or rescheduled. Once a make-up lesson has been scheduled, no additional make-up lesson will be offered if students cancel or do not show for any reason.
3. Last Minute Notice: Of course, things come up at the last minute, so here are your options if less than 24 hours before your lesson:
a. In case of an emergency, a reschedule may be granted by your teacher at no extra cost to you. This is entirely up to your teachers discretion based on the info that you provide.
b. Ask your instructor to book and pay for another lesson during the same calendar month to recover the time you have lost. They may send you a one-time link for a single lesson so that you may book it accordingly.
c. Send a Family Member or Friend instead, that way the lesson is not lost. It is particularly a good idea for a parent to sometimes take lessons, that way parents can better understand the format of the lessons, and better assist students with practicing at home.
4. Late Notice or No Call / No Show will unfortunately not qualify for a make-up lesson unless deemed an emergency by your instructor based on the info you provide. This is completely at your instructor's discretion. Music On A Stick: Music Academy will do our best to accommodate you in these instances.
Teacher Absences: Please keep in mind that teachers might have occasional conflicts due to professional commitments or performances. The teacher is also subject to the 24 hour policy mentioned above (see Students absence section), in which you will be granted a reschedule and free lesson because of their absence. Music On A Stick: Music Academy will make every attempt to make every single lesson on your regular lesson day, or in special circumstances the teacher will make arrangements to do a pre or post make-up with each student. We will do our best to notify students in advance, as early as possible, if something happens that requires your teacher to reschedule. A private makeup lesson with your regular teacher will be scheduled promptly.
